A new way to Organize

Out with folders and bookmarks, in with Collections and Tags. See your entire digital library at a glance.

The Home layout

Home is where COMPASS opens. It instantly shows you the most relevant items from your library that you are most likely to be looking for, neatly grouped in 4 categories.

  • Favorites for those that always come in handy.
  • Most opened for the ones you keep coming back to.
  • Recently opened for the ones you used last session.
  • Recently added for those new resources you are ready to explore.

Collections

A collection is the top level of separation. This way you can break up your library in chunks that make sense to you. Use one per game, system or project. You can have as few or as many collections as you like.

  • Each collection has its own tags, authors, publishers, linked folders and file type preferences.
  • Nothing is shared between them, so a tag you made for one campaign will not turn up in another.

Tabs

Every tab holds its own collection, its own layout and its own filters. Keep your relevant rulebooks open in one tab and your maps in another to quickly switch between the two.

Find the files you need

  • Fuzzy search reads titles and forgives typos. It also matches initials, so “ph” finds “Player’s Handbook”.
  • Filters narrow the list by author, publisher, date, rating, source and file type.
  • Tags group items by anything you care about, and several tags can be true at once.

Let the computer do the work

Organizing a library is fun but hunting down metadata is tedious, so COMPASS does as much as possible on import.

  • Metadata is read from the file, the page it came from and public databases, so you rarely type a title or an author.
  • Tags can attach themselves based on where a file came from.
  • Collections can watch folders, so new files turn up on their own.
